Practice Leave No Trace

The 7 Principles:

Plan Ahead and Prepare

  • Be aware of the local regulations and any special concerns for the area you'll be visiting.

  • Carry a map or navigation tools to stay on track.

Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces

  • Stick to established trails.

  • Avoid trampling delicate vegetation or habitats.

Dispose of Waste Properly

  • Carry a bag for trash and pack out all waste.

Leave What You Find

  • Don’t pick flowers, rocks, or artifacts; leave them for others to enjoy.

  • Take photos instead of souvenirs.

Minimize Campfire Impacts

  • Use established fire rings or stoves for cooking.

  • Keep fires small, burn them completely, and ensure they’re entirely out before leaving.

Respect Wildlife

  • Observe animals from a distance; do not follow or approach them.

  • Never feed wildlife—it disrupts their natural diet and behavior.

Be Considerate of Other Visitors

  • Keep noise levels low to respect the experience of fellow hikers.

  • Yield to others on trails and maintain friendly courtesy.
